Two Brigham Young University (BYU) professors from the School of Family Life examined how religious practices, culture, and beliefs influence body image development. Dr. Sarah M. Coyne researches the effects of media on body image, particularly among women, and Dr. Lauren A. Barnes, a licensed therapist, works with many who are struggling with body image, eating disorders, and other mental health issues.
